I was thrilled that you enjoyed the amazing tip about adding shading to your solid stamped images with watercolor pencils! I just love these cute swimsuits from the Stampin’ Up! Sunny Splash stamp set and I think they are even cuter when you add some shading!! What do you think?

Before and After Shading with Watercolor Pencils:
As I pondered a greeting for this card, I decided to use the new Sending dies, and die cut the shadow layer from the Parakeet Party Glimmer paper and the top layer with Polished Pink cardstock. As you’ll see below.. when I put it on my card, I decided that the pink was not bright enough so I touched it up with my Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends marker!
Tip: I found it most helpful to put Adhesive Sheets on the back of the glimmer paper and the cardstock layer PRIOR to die cutting.

What do you think? Are you inspired to take out a solid image stamp set like the Sunny Splash swimsuit set and use your watercolor pencils to add some shading!?
This card base is the 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ Memories & More white base… but you can fit this on a standard size card as well. I used the In Color dots to embellish the card, and the dots at the bottom of the card are speckles from the Daffodil Daydream set!

Patty, I love these tips for shading. I try to avoid coloring, but you have inspired me to give it a go. Your card is bright and will bring a smile to the recipient. Enjoy your day!
I am so happy you are inspired to try it!! 🙂
Patty Love Love Love this technique. I don’t use my watercolor pencils as often as I’d like so now I have no excuse. Thanks for sharing. God Bless
What a difference the shading makes on the swimsuits!! Love your colors, your coloring and your card!
Amazing technique! I cannot wait to try this! I agree that the white space on the short bottle is a highlight. I think the give away is that this white area extends up into the neck of the bottle. Again, thank you for sharing this with us!
Love the watercolor pencil shading. Have you tried it on either the Wildlife Wonder or Wild and Sweet sets? Thanks, Pat M.
