My personal preference is to die cut floral pieces with two tone cardstock so that I have options of lots of different shades when I’m layering the pieces.

Assorted paper die cuts of flowers and leaves in pink, red, yellow, and green are spread on a cutting mat. Metal dies and floral cutouts appear on black and orange backgrounds. Patty Bennett’s “pattystamps.com” watermark is visible. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Two Tone Cardstock colors I used:

Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Poppy Parade, Petal Pink, Timid Tiger, Real Red for the flowers. I used the light and dark side of the Granny Apple Green for the leaves.

Two handmade arch-shaped cards stand upright. Both have a peach border; one has a floral pattern with orange, yellow, and purple flowers on a white background, while the other has a geometric lattice with purple flowers and green leaves. "Patty Bennett" watermark visible. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

How I made the Everyday Arches card:

  • #1 Fold TWO 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ pieces of Petal Pink cardstock in half, as if you were making 2 card bases
  • #2 I used the 3rd from the largest arch die and aligned the die just slightly over the FOLDED edge
  • #3 be sure your die is overhanging just so the straight cut is off the paper but the dots/stitches are still ON the paper
  • #4 after die cutting per above, your paper should look like this. now you can unfold it.
  • #5 repeat die cutting so you have TWO folded arch “cards”
  • #6 apply glue or adhesive to one flap, OVERLAP them and stick together to get something that looks like #7
  • #7 your trifold arch card base should look like this
  • #8 Decorate each panel with a smaller size arch die cut with DSP of your choice, I used the 4th from the largest die to die cut the DSP

  1. Patty, your instructions say to use a 4 1/4 x 5 1\2 inch and fold to make an A2 card base….I don’t believe that is correct…do you fold on the 5 1/2 or 4 1/4 side, because neither will be A2. Is it 5 x 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4? New card makers don’t know the base sizes
