Waterfront Palm Tree Card

Are you ready for summer?  I hope my Waterfront Palm Tree Beach card idea helps set the mood for summer!  I had the best time creating this after being inspired by an Instagram post by @tamihewlett.  Is it ok to say that I'm totally in love with this card?

I created the background of this card by sprinkling Brusho colour crystals onto watercolor paper, then spritzing the background with water and a Stampin' Spritzer.  When it was dry I started to stamp images from the Waterfront stamp set on top with Soft Suede, Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist and a touch of Early Espresso ink.  The Happy Birthday greeting is from the Beautiful Day set, stamped in Dapper Denim ink on Whisper White cardstock.

2 tips: the palm tree "tops" are stamped with both Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist for added dimension, and I used an Early Espresso Stampin' Write marker to outline the left edge of each palm tree trunk to give it just a bit of dimension as well.

At the very end, I decide to paint some water in the foreground with the Prussian Blue Brusho and an Aqua Painter. Would you want to see a video tutorial for this card?

Deciding which colors to highlight in the mat and folded card base wasn't easy. So many vibrant Stampin' Up! cardstock colors would have gone well with this card, but I selected Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo.

If you are wondering about the "Hearts & Stars" wood embellishments on my card… it's because I love the beach more than anywhere else on earth.. so I just had to add hearts to this card.  I think my mom would have loved this card because the ocean was the one place where she'd rather be, too!

  2. Gorgeous card! Love it, will have to give it a try even with some watercolors. Not sure I am ready for summer but definitely some warmer weather.
